terday morning about five o'clock. Four
little chiltiren of Capt. Brun were sleeping
right forward of the boiler, and one of them
a girl about twelve , years of age, was se
verely scalded. "
Capt. - Marsh Clark, of the Emma Floyd,
was conducted yesterday afternoon to the
office of Rose dr Batchelor, Where were as
seinbled a number of his personal friends
and admirers, whose grave countenances
betokened some serious design upon him.
A huge white beaver, of the high-top per
miasma, was produced, and was formally
presented to him by Capt. Bennett, in his
happy and peculiar stela, in • behalf of, the
friends assembled. Capt. Clark attempted
to 'tell how much he was affected by the
gift, but broke down, and invited the crowd
"round the corner," but they all, strangely
enough, declined (in) a horn.
Daniel Millard, a •pilot, fell overboard
from the steamboat Lula on the 19th-inst.,
near Rickman, Ky., and was drowned. The
drownEd man was formerly a resident 'of
Covington, Kv., where he leaves a wife
and daughter to mourn his untimely
end.
The Dubuque Herald says that' Captain
