The railway market opened active and
buoyant, New York• Central selling at 124 y.
anct Erie 74%. Western shares are all
higher, with an inereaabag business. At
the 10 o'clock call Central reached 125 and
Erie fell , to 69%, Western shares retaining
an advanee of the morning market, but
subsequently less active and lower. The
fall in Central and Erie is quite large,
though Western shares yielded but slightly.
A i 8 reported that the Erie Directors have
removed Drew as Treasurer and substi
tuted- Jay Gould. All border State bonds
steady except Missouri* which are a trifle "
off. Express shares lower. Miscellaneous
stocks more active4md higher. The gen
eral market closed steady.

Both rivers .ixontinue to recede steadily
at this point with scant six feet in the Mo
nongahela, and six, feet six inches in the
Allegheny. The weather , yesterday morn
ing opened up warm and aultry, with indi
cations of rain, but inthe afternoon, there
was quite a change ifithi atmosphere, and
in the evening it v,-as, almest cold enough
for snow. -
The Rate Robinson, from Louisville, got
in on Wednesday evening, and the Argosy
and St. Charles arrived from Cincinnati
about noon yesterday. The Robt. Moore
also arrived.
Telegrams from Oil City report thirty
two inches there, and twenty-two inches at
Tidioute. • -
The J. N. McCullough cleared for Cin
cinnati with an excellent trip; we presume,
however, that she picked up all of her bus
iness in her old trade between here and
Parkersburg.
The Ida Bees No. 2 left for 011 City last
evening; the Echo is due this morning,
and will return as usual to-morrow at 4
p. m.
The St. Charles reports having passed
the Glendale at Steubenville—putting out
iron ore, we presume. '
The Mary Davage and Barges cleared for
St. Louis rather unexpectedly last evening.
Capt. Campbell being apprehensive that if
he staid any longer he might have to wait
for a rise.
The Bayard, Captain A..S. Shepard is the
regular patket for Parkersburg to-day,
