DUTIES OF THE SURVEYCOIinarrEE.
Szc. I. Be 11 ordained and enacted by the City of
- Pittsbuh. in gelect and Common Councils assem
bled, and it is hereby enacted by the authority oldie
same, That the • duties of the Survey Committee
surveys as follows, viz: They shall have charge of all
ordered for the boundary lines of the consol-.
!dated city; to flx anti establish permanent monu
ments along said lines so as to' distinctly define the
limits of the city; to have charge of all surveys for
the purpose of laving on t new streets or straighten
ing old streets - lit the district added to the city by
consolidation, and to get up plans of the same similar
to the present "City District L'inn." They shall
hal'e monuments planted at all intersections or an
gles of streets In said district. They - shall establish
the width of all streets, lanes or alleys. and get up a
chart Of grades for the same. all of which shall be
submitted to Councils for their approval.
Ste. 2. All matters in dispute as to street lines aid
location of new streets through private property,
shall be referred to this Conunittee, who shall exam
ine all complaints on the ground, and 'their decision
in the matter shall be tud, (whenever approved, by
Councils.) -
SW. 3. They shall authorize the City - Engineer to
employ a competent Corps or Engineers to carry on
the above work, muter his direction, supervision and .
control, the Committee reserving the right to cen
t:WM or reject any appointment made by the City En
gineer bn this corps.
SEC. 4. They shall (keep a regular journal of their
proceedings, which shall remain In the City Engi
neer's office, and deliver the same to the Committee
which may succeed them; t hey shall present to Conn
ells at the last 'stated meoting -in Member of sash
year, a full report of- their proceedings, exhibiting
In detail an acconnt of the appropriation made by
Councils of the disbursements made by them, and of
.the objects accomplished or services performed In
pursuance of the same.
SEC.:. That any ordinance or •part •of ordinance
conflicting with the passage of this ordinance at the
present time, be And the some is hereby - repealed so
fir asthe same affects this ordinance. •
