Between six and seven o'clock- last
evening, smoke wits discovered issuing
from the wood 'story windows of the
building occupied by 31. Openheimer
clothier, N0.,68 Market street, and upon
examination the kuliding was found to
be on fire. The alarm was sounded from
box 13, and the Fire Department wee
very promptly on the ground, and in a
very few moments after their arrival
succeeded In extinguishing the fire. It
originated from a defective flue in the
second story front room, occupied as a
workshop. The damage' done by the
fire was very alight, but the building,
goods and furniture were all more or
leas injured by the flood of water thrown
into the house.

failed to get It.. He then left the city and
his wife, which was the only thing he
could do. ' lira. Stewart, hearing at his
departure, yesterday made her appear

Mayor,- knowing the circumstances
of the case, reused to take the informa
tion and Ann Efts departed, cursing
everybody in general, and his Honor, and
her delinquent husband, In particular.
