colored, indicted Sr the larceny of a
coat end vest, on trial at adjournment.
Blondey, the jury returned a verdict of
"not gui lty" and the defendant was Ms
charged.
ASSAULT AND TLATTENT
John Payno was indicted for nesault
and battery. Thejury found It verdict of
. guilty, and the defendant was sentenced
to pay a line of one dollar and tne costs
01 prosecution.

Hiram Daily was indicted for the lar
ceny of a home and buggy, belonging to
James R. Newton. a resident of Sharon,
Mercer county. The prosecutor testified
that ha bad hired a horse end buggy for
the purpose of going a abort distance,
but that ho never returned them. The
defendant was arrested in Allegheny,
about October bit, where ha bend sold the
"rig" for We. The jury found t verdict
of guilty. Sentence deferred.

'ollileer tVallbank, employed at the
Connellsville Railroad depot, on Grant
street, was indicted for committing as
sault and battery upon. William Carr.
The prrneentor had someilispnte at the
depot about exhibiting his ticket before
entering the depot yard, as required by
the regu lations of tho Company. 01:11cer
Wallamk attempted to arrest him, ana
resistance being otrered, the assault was
committed. Wailbank also prosecuted
Carr, and bdth Mies were tried at one
time. The jury found a verdict of guilty
againstWallbank, and in the case of Carr
not guilty, and prosecutor Wallbank pay
the oasts.

Reserve township, Indicted . for assault
and battery. Albert Koocr, prosecutor:
The prosecutor alleges that ho 'visited
the office of the Justice to recover a
male which bad been ached and taken
through some mistake, and on making
his business known, was kicked out of
the Mike by the defendant: On trial at
adjournment.
Escaped trom Ja.11.--"rhomas Whitta
ker and Benjamin Clawson, confined in
the Washington county jail, made their
escape on Sunday evening. Whittaker,
it will be recollected, was tried for par
ticipation in the. Sproull murder, but
acquitted. Be was confined ou a charge
of larceny, as also was Ciaweon. A. re
warn is offered for their apprehension.
Pocket Plckedi—A citizen of Du queen°
borough,- slightly intoxicated, while
passing through the Diamond market
yeatorday, was accosted by three' men
rather familiarly, and while one embraced
him ono or tho others picked his pocket
of eighty-live dollars. The scamps bad
made good their escape by the time
their victim discovered his loss.
