The hour fordisemodon having arrived,
the Chairman - announced the question,
vies "Unit' in Sunday School Woik." -
Rey. Mr: Scovil opened the dlituuslon.

Mar before. The hopes that attend the
Sabbath School work tend 'to unite
Christlina He referred to the unity
springing up between different denomi
nations, and attributed it in a great
measure to Sabbath Schools.
Rev. Mr. Snyder said that he would
like to know what the committee, who
framed the question under discussion,
meant by it. He thought under any
constcuction that could be put upon it,
it ,did not admit of discussion. That
without unity loony event, or under any
construction, a school could not nacceod.
It meant Ounity of any- particular de
nomination; It admitted of no doubt as
to the propriety of unity. lie believed
that the Sunday School FM part of the
Church; that one could not be stitweaSful '
without the other.
Mr. Robinson, one of the Connitittee, in
explanation Bald that the object or the
Committee was to make the question the
subject of prayer during the half honral
lotted to devotional exercises, and unto
subject for. dissuasion. He 'mid there
should be a unity among the- schools of
relo
different deno ations.
Mr. Taylor said that it God's peeeple
wereone inJeaus Christ, thoworld would
believe indeedthatChrist was the Savior.
The professors of chriatianiffeand chris
tian purposes must admit this if they
would be successful.
The Convention was then led inprayer

Rev. W. R. LOCA . Ilsidd that ho thought
there
was great deal in the subject
which fafirst appeared to he without in

him that denominationalism was secta
rianism; he loved his denomination, but
that did not prevent him from loving the
brothers of other denominations. He
believed in aunity of all denomination,
in this Sunday School question. '
Mr. Scovil said that - be had men so
much . diaaster in schools • for want of
unity that he though. 'aelloola could not
be successful without it, Ire thought
there should be a unity of lessons in
echoole of the same churth, and, if yes
able, in all the , churches He would
make the effort to have a unity in all the
schools in his congregatio n.
Mr. Taylor said that some persons
might say that Mr. Small's. Idea of unity
was impracticable, bat he knew It wee
not, and referred to the Sunday Setu.le
of Syractuse, New York, which he said
all had the same lesson each day.

The next question for consideration
was that of
SAZHATH SCHOOL LISHARTHA.
Mr. Burke "soll that the great study of
all Sabbath School teachers had been
how to dispense with, libraries; but he
believed that. it was an 'ututecessaryervil in
Sabbath Schools. lie gave an explana,
Son of a plan for distributing libraries,
which be thought would prove a seem..
ful one. It accomplished the result that
was so much desired, via: That of dis
tributing the Looks Without taking up
the time of the school. The scholar was
furnished with a catalogue and cord
upon which was his or her name and
number, also the Marks of five Intik..
This card was put , - the book
returned by the scholar and 'the book
was supplied by the librarian.
Rev. Mr. Miller gave an exposition
which he thought preferable to Use ono
Just ruentlon. His method was ob

to take the book to the dens.
Mr. Scovil said that he did not think
that - a serious objection. lie .could not
see how it could be an objection, and he,
did: not think it had even kitten urged
before. He visa In favor of libraries-
thought they were the life-of a school,
