DECEASED PENNSYLVANIANS IN
, THE NATIONAL CEMETERY AT
NASHVILLE,
Corresromb.nce of the Plttshersa Gast Ile.
.Nasavitts, Tstrst., Apr 1117,1147.
Editors of the Pifirburph Gereffe.—As a
Pennsylvanian, I take pleasure In enclosing
herewith a copy of the record to date, of
deceased Pennsylvania soldiers who were
burled In the vicinity of Nashville, Tertnes-
Set, during the war, together with the aim
bets designating the respective localities as.
signed these that have thus far been exhu
med and their altered ashes deposited in the
Nashville Nationat Cemetery, dedicated to
the grant national design of honoring the
well merited distinction won by those who
slumber within its quiet and beautiful en
closure, who, by their combined efforts, have
preserved and guaranteed to us upon the
broad and enduring basis; constituted by
the Declaration of Independence, a timer
rock upon whmh to found our nationality
and upon which td successfully place our
efforts of perpetuating its existence and
future progress, and may these white dot
ted cemeteries that now grace our Soothers
States ever serve to remind tho enemies of
our Government that the spirits that once
animated the fallen heroes is Inherent and
will ever actuate the true friends of Ameri-.
can Liberty. The Nashville National Cm:n
ary is located six miles north east of the
city, on the LOIII3VIIIO and Nashville Rail
road, and as there is an excellent Ille."14-
, nosed pike leading to It from the city, will
I afford a very pleasant drive.
Tile Cemetery is beautifully situated. the
enclosure containing sixty-four acres of
fine undulating ground, most, 01 which is
I ornamented with towering toiast trees, and
to being laid off In various ways to suit the
occasion; the whole presenting a very plc.
torerquo appearance; the grounds being
divided by beautiful serpentine (inacade
mi red) 'ermines which, *llOO completed,
will afford a very pleasant drive of three
and n-halt tulles. Thu attractions of this
burial ground, together with the memora
ble eoreelatioes of the vicinity, will make
It quite a pleasant resort for all those who .
may feel an interest in visiting the last rest
ing Place of friends and relatives. •
the work ofemmentrating and depositing
the disinterments Is fa4t bordering on cum- ;
pieties, but the consunimatlon of the ;work'
or fitting up as contemplated will require
from° months.
This Cemetery and that of Stone River Is
under the direction of Chaplain William
Crlnalmw, Culled States Army, formerly of
Pennsylvania.
