were Indicted for obstructing legal process
and assault. George Crouch, acting as
Constable for McCandless township, pro.
seeded to execute a writ of dispossession on
the defendants, in Ohio township, and the
resistance he met with wan the abject or
indictment. It appeared that Mr. Crouch

filed his bond for Ibdi. had no authontc to
net lie was also Supervisor of the District,
and it was claimed that under the law he
bad a right to execute the writ referred to.
The point was raised that although ho
might, as Supervisor, exercise the powers

he could not so do outside of the district for

the name of Peter, Pointer, constable, was
endorsed as haring been sworn before the
Grand Jury as a witness. 31r. I t was
• called and from his statement It appeared
very strange that a true hill should hare
been returned. Re had 'been before tint
Grand Jury, but bad not been asked con
cernng the case of the defendant, and so
far no the facts appeared there was not even
toe shadow of suspicion against blot. On
the contrary the record showed the fact
that he was licensed to sell liquor. Verdict
notgullty, county to nay costs." This is

NISTA. WARD LIQCOO CASED.
Thomas Normine, niche Ninth ward, was
indicted tor [telling liqour without license;
on oath of Albert Allen, constable. it ap
pears that John 8. Normine is licensed to
sell liquor cwith other goods," and that
Thomas Normine had been returned
-through misapprehension, ho tieing suppos
ed to be the proprie tor of the establishment.
The only question for the jury to decide was
as to the costa, which they ordered should be
paid by the constable. Tnere were four
other eases against the same defendant •of
the aeon nature.
George Pennington was also indicted for
selling liquor without license in the Ninth
ward, on oath of Constable Evans. By the
record there seemed to be a lapse of nine
days between the expiration of his license
and its renewal, during which time be con
"- tinned selling. Having withdrawn his plea
of not guilty, the defendant was sentenced
to pay a Iles of tea dollars and the costs.

George Oxley was charged with malicious
mischief, in hurling a brick through a win
, tow of the premises-of George Oxley, but
it appearing that a light.bad occurred, <lur
ing which defendant was knocked down
and badly abused, the jury In finding a ver

Mercy of Ohs Court.

The produce markets. were rather quiet
to-day, the operations in the leadinq cum

Monday is usually ono of the poorest days
of the whole six for trade. There are but
very few country dealers In the city on
Monday., and generally, there is bet little
done outside of • the city trade, and besides•
the excitement which Prevailed in many
articles last week and the week previous,
has to some extent subsided, and the de
wand is confined mainly to supplying lin•
mediate and legitimate wants. So far, how
ever, as prices are concerned, there are no
changes worthy of °puma' notice.
GRAlN—Wheat is in limited supply and

ket was dull and neglected, and so far na we
could learn, not a single pale was effected,
notwithelanding there were offers to soil at
a reduction from the figures prevailing on
