uud the educational interests connected
with the (Efferent denominations. It is
well known the Methodists celebrated
their Centenary Jubilee last year_ Two
things wero kept prominently before the
_phurch--the promotion of revivals end

ittatistictiof the Church, which an cure

leges, elegant churches have been erec
ted; embarrassing debts on churches
have beefs liquidated; many edifices have

tions, both In church extension and edu
cational matters. The rapid wealth ac.

the development of the riches hidden in
thigAwels of the earth, has been lavish
ly p ured out by them, for the erection
of c urclt edifices of the most modern
build, and in providing funds to elevate
insiltutions of learning to a position of
giving the highest grade of educational'
culture. Men - of wealth in these cities
have given tens of thousands towards
the; erection of church structures that
have tut their churches in a position .of
- usefulness and intluenee, which_r_their
meagre membership and _ indifferent.

given liberally towards the erection of
suitable houses of God, but they have
adopted the noble, course of bestowing
their gifts for the endowment of institu
tions, or specialities in theological, scien
tific, and other departments in them,
