GAZETTE ENLaRGEICENT.
The great amount of adiertisdri6 awarded
the llair.TTL by the business comMunity has
forced upon us the nrge'nt necessity Of an en
larcement of the size of our Jouraal. We at
first contemplated issuing a quarto'paper, bat
upon consnltation with the proprietors of
such journals elsewhere we were dissuaded
from adepting that form, feeling that the
interests of our advertisers would suffer,
while readers would be but slightly pencilled.
After much study. into the matter we have
concluded to retain the present form of the
Gugurre, but will add four columnist° Its size,
making TIIIIITV , IS COLVIESS Or SP.LCO. Ity
this arrangement we will be enabled to do full
justice to both- readers and advertisers, mak-
Ing ail pages of our Journal equally valuable
to the latter, and furnishing more reading
matter to the former. In our new size we
shall make our bow to the public about the
15th inst., and trust the general community
will appreciate our efforts to supply a first
class adverttsutg medium and local and politi
cal newspaper.

The President In his report says:
Toe list of active members would appear to

that a largo increase of membership wilt not
only extend the advantages of our institution
to such now members, but will largely in
crease our resources, and furnish means for
the needed annual increase to the Library.
Lihthiltg,
The Treasurer's report shows that the
thanks of the Association are due to the Leo
