The supply of cattle was remarkably light
this week, not exceeding, if reaching hve
hundred head. The demand, however, was
very much restricted,• and notwithstanding
the limited suPPIY, there was a small number
left over unsold. There was no inquiry for
shipment, and butchers bought very sparing
ly, in consequence of the fact that farmers are
clotting the markets With dressed meats, and
erllingit cheaper ß ian they (the punchers) call
afford tn, accordi to the prevailing prices of
cattle. It Is not a little remarkable that while
lingo have deClined during the past six weeks
fully fifty pefeent, good retailing cattle have
