Stealing from a Jail Prisoner
We reported; some time ago, the arrest of a
gonna man named IL C. Gamble at New Castle.
'by officer Janies Dell, of Aldernian Taylor's
police, for horse stealing, dames Data, the pro
piietor of the Excelsior Livery Stables, in the
Fifth ward, being thaproseentor, and his com
mittal to jell by nit, magistrate In default of
ball for triaL Gamble, a day or two since,
made an effort to secure counsel, as hie ease
would probably come up at the coming term
of the Criminal Court. Ills funds ware at the
lowest, and lie resolved to dispose of a fine
overcoat, valued at seventy.ffve dollars, which
he had in his possession , and which he claimed
belonged to him. Accordingly he applied to
a friend named George Newligt, In whom he
reposed great confidence, and desired him to

coat has been heard from.
