in Collies township. On the Sunday morning
mentioned a girl came and told me that a girl

there and found Paddock and McMillan pour
ing water one girl under the trees. ( Witness
then described the condition of the girl us be
fore given). I left while the girl still lay
there, gun] the defendants went away.

see the defendants at all that morning before
that; I saw them afterwards, and they told inc
about the shooting at Holmes.

lins township; the girl was found near my
house on the Sunday morning mentioned; was
notified of the feet of the girl being there by
my wife; the girl was raving when I went
there, and every time we would touch her, she

that knife to me;" ire.; tried to get her to
speak, but she would only rare; she could not
set up at all, and we carried her to my house;
I went for Dr. Benison immediately and he
came to attend her; the condition of the girl's
clothing was very much dleorderod, and her

was dying; her shoes, when I saw them, stood
-nenr by, tied together; did not notice any
wounds on the poison of the girl; she has re
mained at my house from that time to this;
for about four imam she was unable to got out
of her bed; recently she has been aide. to bo at

after the occurrence before she was able to
sneak coherently, and give any account of
herself ; • after this she matte complaint to me

on her; we refused to let any one visit her, be
cause we feared the effects of any conversa
