sonville, prints this as a matter of curios
ity, and illustrates as follows :

owned and manned by colored people, lett
this city on last Saturday crowded with the
suffering, population on a pleasure excur
sion up our beautiful river. W e have yet
to record the first death from suffering in
East Florida."
THE New York Times is vexed at its
want of success in trying to induce the
Southern Conservative journals to moder
ate their violence. Having failed in that
direction, we suggest that our oatemporary
try its lieed on the organs of Northern
Conservatism. Subtracting violence from
them, however, would leave ao small a re
mainder as to raise a doubt of their contin
ued existence.

Upon reaching the other tide they repaired
to the house of a well known Methodist
minister, and the twain were made one

The feelings of the outwitted parents can
be easier imagined than discribed when it
was announced to them next morning that
their daughter was missing. The father,
half suspecting the truth, hurried to our
city, and soon learned the lesson so otter

—A new disease, to which Dr. Cattani
gives the name of :Acetonernie, has been
described in ihe Journal de Plsarmaeie, of
Paris. It is thought to be produced by the
formation of a chemical compound called
acetone in the system. This arises from
the formation of organic matter, especially
of grape sugar, in the stomach. The dis
ease sometimes, though not often, proves
fatal in a few hours. The remedies are
purgatives and stimulants.
—Ezra W. Smith, sixteen year , ago was
a wealthy and honored citizen of Terre
Haute. He iuddeuly disappeared, how
ever, leaving his family and all his wealth
behind. Lately he has been discovered in
Nevada, where he owns large possessions
and is very wealthy. He is considered
partially insane.
