LIGHTNING ROD WORKS.
LOCKHART & CO. - ,

DUQUESNE WAY,
Below Hand St. Bridge, Pittsburgh.
Professor JOSEPH HENRY, Secretary of the
Smithsonian institute, acknowledged one of the
most acientitic men of Hits age, Keys oci: damage can
enure to a building protected by a goad lightning
rod. however inane discharges; may All upon it. A
good rod, by Its powerful Induction, dlininisbes the
intenalty of the loweipart of a cloud, and therefore
tesseni the number of explosive discharges; but If a
discharge takes place from the cloud, doe from any
moue whatever, it will be attracted from a given'
dithince around the rod, and transmitted innoxi•
only to the earth.

contest, and has been extensively used by the moat
Intelligent people wherever introduced,
It is a well eetabUshed scientific fact that copper

trees, while copper will not rust, and always retains
Its power organ action. The tubular, spiral shape
of Munson'srod gives the greatest strength at the
smallest p wslble cost, and makes it impeder to a
solid copper rod three inches In circumference. The
manner of conneMing the Mints Is such that perfect
continuity Is formed from one.end to the other; and
this rod e 111 remain a goad protection whist the
disasters by lightning se long as the building en
