The rain on Satu caused a slight rise in
the river yesterday. The Monongahela pier
marks indicated six feet. eight Inches, and the
Allegheny nearly eight feet in the channel.
The weather yesterday was beautiful. The
bright, wane sun proclaimed the advent 'of
balmy Spring, and infused new life into every
thing animate. During the whole of lest
week, business on both wharves was languid,
and we have no „indications of a revival or
trade in the immediate future. Thereds a
dearth of export freights, and as there Is ac
tive competition, rates of transportation are
tow.
The Bayard arrived from Parkersburg. She
will return to-day at noon. Passengers and
shippers for Parkersburg and Intermediate
points will find the Baystrd all their hearts
could possibly desire—efficiently oMcered, and
her accommodations second to no steamer in
the trade.
The Emma Graham arrived from Zanesville
and will leave for that fa i nt on Tuesday at
four o'clock p. m. She is aprogressive boat.

suttees as a steamboat commander. lie is
known far and wide es just the man to render

The Brads and Echo got In from Oil City,
having on hoard a fair cargo of oil and milicel

Colby, left for the up country on Saturday
evening.
The Nora departed for Cincinnati and Louis

people. In consequence of the Indisposition
of Captain Devenney, Mr. Blackmer: will
officiate as commander for the present.
The commodious and reliable packet Finan
cier, Capt. Darragh, is getting along 'finely
with her load for Memphis and New Orleans,
and will soon be ready to: . depertnre. This
boat eminently deserves the popularity she
enjoys, as she Is uneteMelently officered. and
complete In everything that Is calculated
to make a steamer pleasant and convenient.
Those interested will do well not to allow this
opportunity to pass unimproved.
