The completion of the Pittsburgh Oct
berbille Railroad, thenew link in the the short
line of the Pittsburgh, Coltman. and Cincin
nati Railroad, has opened a new ana rich coal
region to Pittsburgh. All along the line of Mit
road coal of the beet finality Is abriblant, and
already some hail(-dozen new coal enteeprises
have hocn began, some of which aro now
ready to scud coal to market, and others soon
will be. In the course of a year ur two the
coal trade over this road must be very large.
Among the first to get into market with coal
over this line is Idr. Da id Steen, who has
opened a pit nearly opposite Matfellghtsci b
needing in dallymappliev to the city, kis well
aft , lVestward. Mr. Steen was formerly In the
coal business on the Yougietgbeny, in Which
he was very successful, and having had a long
experience in the .trade, he cannot fall to be
asattecessful in thins new region. Ile has a
large body of very rine Coal, immediately ad
joining the railroad, at the lituastlehl station,
Only seven miles from the city; and ho can
therefore run In supplies rapidly . . lie has ei
fiablithed a coal-yard in the :7:1 . 7. aalatntng

and near the month of the ncw tunnel; and as
