Some time since, as our readers will remora
bee, a man named Dietrich published an ad
vertisement in the city papers, announcing
the fact that his wife and family, six in num
her, had deserted him. After the publication
• id theadverthsonsest, Dietrich discovered that
this wife had left his house in company with a
ratan mimed Funk. For a time the wherea

Mind it being found they bad passed from AIM

gage Railroad, Dietrich procured passage to

During Dietrich's- absence, officer Nixon, of
• the Allegheny police, learned that the parties
sought for were at Kittanning, Armstrong
ofainty. lie immediately communicatbd the
' fact through proper channels to Dietrich, who
returned to Allegheny and made information
before Alderman Robinson - against Funk for
the larceny Of some forty-seven hundred del
' lath In money, and against his wife for deter
tion:., Nixon, as we noticed at the time of the

rested the parties, who wore held in bonds for
a further hearing. The hearing came off on

Ou Faturday evening a rather aggravated
ease of assault and battery was heard before
Alderman Donaldson, the particulars of
which, according to the evidence, are as fol.

went into the saloon of Jurnes it. Dickey, the
"Eldorado," at the corner of Fifth and Smith
field streets, for drinks. O'Connell called for
ale for the party, which was set oat by the bar
keeper, Jag. Martin. Ono of O'Connell's party
remarked that the glasses were not full, when
Ilm barkeeper took the glasses and threw the
contents back into the pitcher. Angry words

far keeper struck across the counter at one of
the patty, O'Connell caught his arm, when
