The Conference closed by singing the Doxol

Second Day--Conference convened at eight
o'clock. Rev. Dr. Cox conducted the opening
religions exercises.
After referring sundry reports to appropriate
committees, and the appointment:of a committee
to examine the MBS of a work on Theoligy, by
Dr. Wakefield, consisting el Drs. Baird - and Cox,
and Revs. I. C. Pershing, J. Williams, J. E.
Wilson, 11. Birkett, S. 11. Nesbitt, the examina
tion of the oharactere_of effective members was
resumed. The elders of the Steubenville and
Allegheny Districts were examined.
The report of the Book Depository Committee
was read and ordered to be printed. The com
mittee recommend the purchase 'of an eligible
site and the erection of a suitable building for
the accommodation of the Book Depository and
publication of the Pittsburgh Christian Advocate;
and also, ask the General Conference to male an
appropriation" of twenty-five thousand dollars
for this enterpi lee.
The eecond disciplinary-question—;rho remain
on trial 7 was taken up and continued on trial.
Twenty-two persons passed. The fourth pies
don— trho are the Deacons' Eight passed credi
table examinations. Fifth question—who hoot

viz: "with an intention to enslave them."
Resolved, That the General Conference, to meet
at Buffalo, May let, be requited to insert this
interpretation of the Rule, either as a foot note
to the rule or in the chapter on Slavery.
