The whole number of teachers in tbe State, In these schools,iaJ3,osS, He reports 79 male teachers In our city, an 4934 feiaale. ' There ore in the State 1784 school districts, of this number 1071 districts have selected, and havo in use, a series of text books. In 44 dis tricts they hare been seleoted, bat havo not yet been introduced. In 207 districts they have been seleoted and partially introduced. In 209 districts no selection his been made. One ban dred and ninety-three districts hare made no re port upon the subject. In 889 Districts the Directors hare visited the Schools once a month; In 72 they have been vis ited by the Secretaries of tbe various Boards, acting as Dislricfßapcrihtendentg; in 435 they have been occasionally visited by the Directors; in 132 they do not visit them at all, ‘and 232 Districts have made no report on this point In 1027 Districts, all the school houses are report ed comfortable, and fit for their ueea; in 345 the majority era reported unfit; in 115 Districts, all the bouses oro totally useless; in 94, they have too many school bounce; la 348, they have too few. The Lancaster County Normal School, located at MilUrav3lc, has been re-organized as the State, Normal School for the Second District.
