ANOTHER EX PEOFTION TOTEM AIICTIC REMOBS.
—The British journals are urging again the
importance of Bodies oat another expedition
to the Arotio regions, with the hope of finding
!mule of the surviiers of the lost explorer, Sir
John Franklin. Two millions of dollars have
already been expended in making searches, and
it is a sirens ovidSnee of the generous feelings
inspiring the people of England, when they con
template to make : another effort to resale any
persons who may have mitred the persona now
known to have ptiptilted in their efforts to add
to our treasures of i'%eographboal !mime. ft is
possible that amid Ike !Moon snows of the North
some band of etnoggling adventurers may yet
be hoping thap, the bright world beyond them is
not unmindful of the possibility Of. their exist

with the autleipatlet of Borne day returning to
the regions of civilised life.
A Hemmer land Search up Orcal Fisit river

of danger, and less , exponsive than any other,
while there is rump to hope ildwt some of the
one hundred and firS persona who had gone be
yond the traces of th♦e last eearches may ho dis
covered. The spiriCend enterprise which char
acterme the British:nation will probably not be
satisfied with discinetiog this matter, bat capital
will be bountifully applied to the effort to re
cover those whose tale of adventure and stores
of narrative may amply repay the whole world
for the cost of attempting to reach the conclu
eion of the Arctic epic.

Imraomo.F.ftes.—There are farmers who
cannot see room for improvement in the char
acter and management of their farms. The
majority, however, are deterred from the work
by Cho want of means, time, and ICSOWINO now
to begin. The way to begin is on a moderate
scale, commensurate with .the time and means
at command—but let a beginning be made
with a plan for regularly extending impmve
ments. In underdraining, take that part of
the field first which needs it most; do it well
as far as done, and open surface drains on the
balance of the field. The character and pro
ductiveness of the field will be improved and
increased—it will pay a profit on the outlay
for improvements. Another year's experience
will show better how to go on with the work,
and no farmer will cease in such efforts at im
proving the farm, as lenges he finds them pro
fitable. It is the same with plans for more ex
tensive manuring, for more thorough cultiva
tion, for more systematic winter care of stork
and other things.
KICEP STOCK WAR:U.—Farmers do lot pay
sufficient attention to the warmth of their stock,
but milifer them to roam about in the openeir,
exposed to the inclement weather. The amount
of exercise is another most important point to
attend to. The more an animal reeves about,
the quicker it will breathe, and the starch,
gum, sugar, fat and other respiratory elements
it must have in its food; and if, an additional
quantity of these substances is not given to
supply the inerease4 demand, the fat and other
parts of the body will be drawn upon, and the
animal will become thinner; also, as before
observed, every motion of body produces a
correspondingdestniction of the muscles which
produce that motion. It is, therefore, qtilte
the more the heat-producing and-O&M-forming
principle it must receive in its food. Eance
we see the propriety of keeping our cattle in
sheds and yards, and qiit suffer those (particu
larly which we intend to fatten) to rove about,
consuming more food and wasting away more
rapidly, and making it more expensive and
difficult to fatten them.
CONTDASTS.—TiIeI horror evinced by Demo
cratic journals over the "Old Brown" riot in
Virginia as compared with their complacency
over Democratic riots In Kansas!
The speed with which Southern Contie can
hurry an "Old Brown" to the gallows. as com
pared with the lengthened action, "long drawn
out," of those same Courts when trying African
