eta Your, Sept. :13.—The cricket match which
is to take place hero between Ail England and Amer
ican cricketers, has been postponed till October 3d,
and the play at Philadelphia till the 10th of the came
month.
The stock market has a much firmer tone to-day,
and the business is on a largo scale, at an improve
ment in most description&
There is more stir in the money market to-day in
consequence of the shifting of loans occasioned in
part by preparations for the heavy shipment of spe
cie by the steamer to-morrow. Tho supply of capi
tal asekiug employment at tl per'cent is, however,
large, and no stringency is experienced in any quar
ter. In tho discount market there is no noticeable
change; prime paper maturing this side of January
is easy at 11( - M 64; beyond, and Inside of March, at
7 per cent.
The exchange for the Ocean Queen's mail to-mor
row is moderately active, at 110 on London. Some
of the drawers have their rate to 1101. The estimate
of the export of bullion to-morrow ranges from two
to two-and-a-half million, of dollars. The lineal
engagements thee far are $1,800,000.
Sr. Loom, Sept. 21—The Denver City express of
the Llth reached Leavenworth with $.32,000 in gold
dost, the largest single shipment yetreceived. Returns
from eleven of the mining districts, give a majority
of 1,600 against the o State Constitutiob. A vigilance
committee has been organized in censeqatinee of the
frequency of the depredations upon property there.
The thieves are already banished.
Tar LAT6sT.—Dates from Leavenworth elate that
the proposition for the State organization io the
Pike's Peak country, has been defeated. The mines
are yielding more abundantly on account of the in
creased quantity of water. The bayou ealade mines
are yielding from $lOO to $l5O per day.
llisucu Cause, Sept. 23.—The rain has fallen
steadily during the whole week, and the Lehigh river
has raised eight feet. The creek running through
the town has overflowed, and the streets aro covered
with water varying in depth trete sis inches to three
NIL. Almost all the collars are fell of water, and the
residents are constructiog coffer dams to protect their
houses. The inhabitants have been at work night
and day to provide for the safety of their property.
It is impossible to estimate the amount of damage
done: To move about the town it is necestary - to do
solo boats or tf, take the hills.
ZSNEAvILLE, Sept. 23.-3. McNoble, conductor
on the C. W. S. Z. Railroad, was killed list night. ,
Ile was Silt missed °Chia train at Roseville, and on
search being made for him, he was found in the creak
at Anderson's bridge, eight miles from here. It is
supposed that he struck the bridge, having been on
top of 'the rut collecting tickets, the train being
crowded with people returning from the Fair. Ile
melded at Worthington, Ohio.
Wasutnoros;..Sept. 23.—1 n the event of a colli
sion between the United States and Great Britain,
growing out of the San Judo affair, ten Barney can
put the Government in poseession of the fact In fif
teen daysi.hy an express from Vancouvre to Salt
Lake Citj; and from thence th Leavenworth. This
time may seem incredible, bot there is oo doubt it can
and will he accomplished In case of collision.
Ms.:a:onion, N. 11., Sept. 23.—Bridget Riley,
who for some years his been employed to factories
here, was found this morning murdered In a yard in
the lower part of the city. The body we. shocking-
IY mingled. The occupants on the premises are
Scotch and Irish; they denied all knowledge of the
tragedy. Bridget was about 2 years old. A Cor
oner's inquest le investigating the matter.
EASTON, Sept_ 23.—The Lehigh and Delaware ara
both rising rapidly. A Serious break in the Dela
ware Canal at Yardleyville is reported, forty feet of
the-embanktuent wagtail away.
The damages to the East Pennsylvania and Le
high Valley Railroad, has been ropaired, and tho
trains are running regularly.
Writers L, Sept. 23.—Tha English Cricketers have
arrived hero, and aro in fine coddition, and ready to
