WIIZESAI, Believing, so these funda
mental prineiplee to be istailed, and in extreme
jeopardy, nnder thereoent ruling of the Supreme
Court of our State, therefore
Resolved, That we earnestly protest against
the ruling of. said court, as being unconstitu

Resolved, That decisions So palpably in viola
tion of our NU of rights and our constitution
can only result fres Ignorance or corruption,
and In either ease calls loudly for impeachment.
Resolved, That we, lite our forefathers, hold
the betrayal of our konstßutional rights and
liberties in the most ineffable contempt, and God
granting us the power we will hurl such mon
sters from their high places.
Resolved, That If our forefathers opposed an
unjust tax of • penny upon tea, we, their de
scendants, possessing the same jealous regard
for our rights, will to the bitter end, resist any
andall attempts to coerce us to submission.
Resolved, That we believe In the good old Rev

no power not derived from the people, and that
the administrators of oar government are but
the creatures of the people's will, and for the
future we pledge ourselves one to another to
support no ono for au office, of either profit or
trust, capable of betraying our birth rights to
European money shavers or Philadelphia stock

PIITSDURGII.
Resolved, That we will neither assess, collect
nor poy any part or portion of the infamous
railroad debt, and that we will neither bid nor
buy property distressed by execution to satisfy
this iniquitous claim.
Resolved, That we have fall confidence in our
County Commissioners. Pledges given before
the election have lost nothing sine°.

18510, Dr. John Calahan, ideal, and .1. McCart
ney, 60cretery, the follow preamble and resolu
tions once thoroughly sassed end nnanimously
adopted:
Wuratuas, We citizens of Allegheny county feel-
log that we are likely to be imposed upon by the'
doeLsion of the Supreme Court in the "Thomas Man
damus" Core, believing @Asia decision to be unconsti
tutional and unfair, and that' it is our duty to resist
rho seam considering it a dangerous precedent ruin:
um in its nature, and striking at the root of our lib
erty and republican institutions, therefore,
Resttlced, That after having cm:fully examined
everything relative to our indebtedness to the fall
road bond holders, find that we, the tax-payers of
Allegheny county, are neither. morally, legally nor
honorably bound to pay a duller of any rillroad claim.
Beesfred, That we have not the ability to pay
each claim and do jostles to our families, believing
it to be mom righteous to provide for our families
than for specolatora and bead holders.
lierolred, That while we cheerfully submit to the
dictates of constitatiooal Safhofity, we know our
rights and privileges as American citizen., and that
taxation was only intended by our constitution u
the means to carry out the legitimate ends of gov
emment, but not one cent for railroad bond holders ;
theeefore, thostoade for the support of government.
but not one sent for railroad bond holders, at least
until decided in a court of equity.
Resolved, That we hope the Judges of the Su
preme Court will review and rover's their decision in
the "Thomas Maedasnus" cast, lest when their com.
wands coma to be carried out by the constituted au
thorities we may be forced' to resort to unpleasant,
means to defend our property and rights as citizens
of the United States.

Reeolced, That% refusing to pay this demand,
we do not merit the appellation of repudiators, be
lieving that term ought only to be applied to those
who refuse to pay just claim.
Mr.lrod, That we call upon every citizen tax
payer of Allegheny county to examine carefully, and
after belog convinced of the righteousness of our
cause, to stand by us shoulder to shoulder in resist
ing what we consider the unjust demands of the
bond bolder,.
linotad, That we will support no man far office
to our county who la not openly and uncompromisingly
opposed to the payment of a railroad tax.
Revolted, flat we will resist the collection of ■
railroad tax by all legal and constitutional means.
Resolved, That we recommend this township to
nod four delegates to the Anti-Tax Cones:Moo,
shortly to be held in Pittsburgh.
Resolord, That the Secretary furnish three copies
of the pia:an:Sop of this meeting for publication in
the city papers.

Is referenoe to the szbetne sf annexing Cuba,
the Charleston Mercury says: "To our under- •
standing, the whole scheme now before the coun
try is impracticable and visionary. However
disposed the North might be to obtain "the
faithful isle," on account of the advantages com
mercial and for defence, that antislavery sec
tion, bevies control of our Government—is not
prepared to buy and annex Cuba, as additional
slave States in the Union, and ill never be.—
Spain, too, Is bitterly opposed to selling. With
out war, Great Britain and France will not per
mit Its forcible seizure. The United Stahel, era;
not ready, either to Belle Cuba for the short-:
comings and impertinenoesof Spells, or to fight
those powers. Entertaining these opinions, we
differ to some extent on the practical question ,
from Col. Keitt. In fact, we regard tho project,
now on foot, and under the present elreumstan
' ems, however differently viewed by Col. Keltt, as
a mere scheme of politicians for moving the pol
itical waters In this country. Mr. Slidell and
other Presidential aspirants will derive incident
al prominence by leading a popular current of
feeling, no matter how idle and Wu. Douglas,
too, in his treacherous designs toward the South
strives to eke out his miserable short lion's skin
of epurions Democraoy, by the additional patch
ing of this cheap vulpine ultralem of an imprao
tioable hobby. But the great object sought is,
to raise new issues—to assuagasectional feeling
—to change, if possible, the front of partiee—or,
at any rate, under the clouds of confusion and
distraction, to effect once more e. party triumph
without the hazards of the fatal Issues of the
past.

Jan. 6. respecting Senator Sumner :, "A letter
received yesterday from Ur. Sumner, gives but
little encouragement for his speedy recovery to
his numerous friends. The fact of his still be

of his health. He will get away from France

not conceive how much 6Lr. Sumner has fluttered
of late—during the last Summer he has died a
