efl of Pittsburgh, Allegheny and the, adjoining
boroughs, was_ held in the Common Council
•Chamber of this eity t en Tuesday evening, for
the purpose of preparing a=joint ordinance un—
der an Aot of Assembly plumed April 2ist, 1658,
relative to licensing of velgcles in Allegheny
county.
Hugh S. Fleming, of Allegheny, vru called to
the chair, and Win. B. Brown, of Pittsburgh,
chosen Secretary.

Mr. Etrett moved that a joint meeting beSied
torment Monday night, which MO' adopted.
00 motion, a committee of three, consisting
of the following gentlemen, was appointed to
make the necessary arraogements for holding
the joint meeting: J. Robb, J. U. Barr and J.

!.. Mr. - ErrAtt offered the following rules for the
.government of the joint meeting on Monday
night, which were adopted :
"The roles of the joint meeting shall be the
rules of the Councils of the city of Pitteburgh,
no far as applicable. •
The presiding officers of :each council are re
quested to be present, and will decide among
themselves who shall preside at the joint meet
ing. •
The ordinances shall be read a first time for
general information; after which the Council.
shall go into Committee of the Wbole forgener
al discussion and amendment.
. •
After the ordinance is reported from the Com
mittee of the Whole, it shall be put upon the
third reading and final passage; and the clerk
of each Connell shall enter upon his minutes a
full account of the procaedings of this joint con
vention.'
. The ordinance, when, passed, ehall be signed
by the ceders of all the Councils, who shah see
that the
,some is duly recorded and published in
the.papers authorized to do the printing of the
spden corporations represented.'
The Aot of Assembly under which the com
mittees met, was then read, on motion of Mr.
Robb.
Mr. Errett offered a draft of an ordinanco-to
be submitted to the joint-meeting, and after
considerable discussion, and sundry amend
rtients being made, it was appreved by the meet-
A committee of three, consisting of Messrs.
Errett, - Boyil and Forsyth, was appointed tohaCe
. the ordinance, as amended, printed in clips for
the rise of members of the several Councils, and
to prepare a memorial to the Legislature to make
such a modification in the law, as regards tbo basis
of collection and distribution Of the licenses among
the several corporations, an will suit all parties.
The meeting then adjotrrned.

_bration of the Centennial Anniversary of the oc
