tutu Onou.—After the amount of talk which
•we have heard about an economical administra
lion-of the affairs'of our county, and after the
cry of opentemition" which wall raised when we
made some inquiries in regard to certain unex
plained "exhonerations," we feet it to be alike
due to the tax-payers of this county and our
salves-to make public another fact in this con
nection.
On the 20th day of September, we were au
: thorized bythe County Commissioners to pub
lish the Shoritrs Proclamation for the Ootober
election. The publication is an usual one, and
bageoerally inserted once a week, daily and
weekly. It measured twenty-four squares. in
the' azzetle, anti was inserted I one time weekly
and throe times daily, once a week; at our terms,
this should have been $3O. But the County Com
missioners informed us that they had determined
to. allow but $30,00-to each of the city papers
for the Publication; *ltalia this proclamation waw
a matter of some Importance to our readers. es
well as others; Ira determined to be generous.
And not preen our jult claims upon a county al
.-ready Some $60,000 overdrawn. We inserted
the proclamation, and received in return a war
rant upon the County Treasurer f0r520,00.-
lie :are informed that the Post, Journal, Di..
Fatal, Chronicle and one or two of the Gorman
paperer, published the proclamation each for the
sum price which we received.
•
• We mere do litUe anrprised, therefore, to learn
that the ”People's organ," the utis.named True
Pros, hurbeen paid for this same job, the snug
little in of $225,00—0n1y TWO Hundred and
Fiv4l Dollars more than they were entitled to
receive.
We give this as a specimen of the integrity
and, rigid economy practised by our late loeolo•
co county commissioners. The people will re
joke with us that that party is now powerless,
the electiott of honest Zachens Patte /son having
pat the boot on the other leg.
