He urges upon Congress the admission of Kansas as a Stato under the Constitution drawn up-at in the language of au and with, the temper of a remorseless theorist, resolved that his particular doctrino of the national law shall be maintained at any hauard and at any cost, though the eosl be the peace of the-nation, and the haxzard the existence of tho Union. Neither theiuoonimous voice of the conservative majorities of every SLato in the Confederacy re affirming the sovereignty of the popular wilt, nor the plain expression'of that popular will in Kansas, branding the Lecompton Constitution as the repudiated work of a defeated minority, nor his own past declarations and recorded pledges of a firm determination to enforce the righteous and regular behests of the people at the polls, have been allowed to weigh with Mr Buchanan against the entreaties or the menaces of the factious enthusiasts, or the deliberate conspirators who have demanded of him the barren triumph of crushing for an hour at Washington, the free life which even they them selves'admit they cannot hope to slide on the plains of Kaosas.
