TII YSTF.ILIOUS MURDER IN LON DoN . —Our
ondon correspondent, writing on the Itith inst.
ay s:
The murder brought to light in a most Provi
dential manner last Saturday morning, surpasses
all in mystery and horror. At 117 f the preced
ing night an elderly woman (or man in disguise)
passed through the turnstile on Waterlon Bridge
carrying a brown paper parcel and a large
carpet bag, the latter nu heavy that the toll
taker had to lift it over the turnstile for her.
This person came from the north side, and did
not return. On Saturday morning, the c arpet
bag, with a long cord attached, wria ' found
lying on one of the abutments of the bridge,
and on being opened was found to contain almost
a perfect skeleton and a number of garments—
the bones roughly divided, and with thelnuncles
and intergunients adhering: and the clothes
soiled, stained with Mood, and cot longitudinally
down the back. Being hawks] over to the
police, the assistance of a surgeon was procured
and an examination made. The missing port inns
are the head, hands, feet, three ribs and a
portion of the vertebrae. The flesh had been
cut off, and the whole appeared to have been
salted, with a view to prevent decomposition
until the ghastly remains could be disposed of.
There were marks of a stab bet worn the third
and fourth ribs, and rho blood that had settled
there proves that the sound was inflicted during
life. This stab corresponds with one of three
or four which appear on the left side of the
clothes, and the ribs that are ILiQsing would
setae them hers. There are several other cut,
ill the clothes. /..,he of ,ehich have not complete

dealt at random, asdf in the course of a mortal
struggle. The clothes are of good quality, and
are auppose.l tin be of foreign pinky; the socks
are un d oubtedly of 13entth manufacture. From
the hair on portion• of skin attached to the arm
bones, the murdered man seems to have been
