iturrem—A correspondent at Palmyra, N:
V., writes to ono of our merchants, says the
Journal of Commerce, that the people of that
city need indulge no apprehension of any
searcity of dairy food, such as cheese or butter,
as the quantity of these articles produced the
present-season in the great dairy counties of the
State exceeds that of any precious year by
about one-third. Ile estimates that in the corm
tics referred to, there have been made at least
70,000 firkins more butter than ever before in
One season.

Lv volt - of the high prices of meat, the New
York Post says, the wicked, wanton waste of
breeding power, wL ,h is the besetting sin of
American farmers, ought to be checked. Every
farmer ought to be required to give an account
of himself, who kills a female calf. We ought
to preserve every •'cow calf" for five years to
come. By this method we might soon have a
supply of beef, not only for. ourselves but for
oily emergency abroad.
A PASTOU OWNsD.—Kelley Lowe, pastor of the
African Church, Augusta, Georgia, was origin

years ago, and, as the Zion's Advocate says, "he
is their servant pecuniarily as well as spiritual
ly." They allow him a salary of froth $BOO to
$l,OOO per annum.
