It was a beautiful little machine, the whole of which could be covered up by a box of probably 4 cubic feet. We have had for two years, and have to-day in our cellar, one of these engines for driving our presses, It is so entirely simple in its structure that we might. almost say it never gets out of repair. It is not the least trouble: you put on steam and it goes until you shut It off. It works too heavy press es : it goes without noise or jar, it requires but little steam end not much fuel; it takes but small space in which to work it is easily re moved ; it costs originally comparatively little and upon the whole is, we think for such work as It Is designed io do, the best engine in use. Messrs, Cridge, Wadsworth & Co. manufacture these engines in this city. PRE MANAGERS OF THE IiORTICULTURAL Ex utarrios declared their premiums yesterday and closed last evening. We regret that we have no space for a full repot of awards in our columns to-day. The disphiy was not as full this autumn as we could have wished to see it, and yet it was in the matter of fruits, highly creditable. In plants and flowers it hardly came up to our cherished anticipations. The year has been so rich in all the products of the or chard and the garden that we had high expec tations which were not fully realised Never theless the City Hall was liberally patronized by our citizens, and this, the most grateful and beautiful exhibition of the season was, we trust, profitable to the managers as we are sure it was gratifying to the tastes of visitors. Seta or Conics PLANTIS.—On Tuesday morn ing next at 10 o'clock, will be sold at "ENNA PLACE" the residence of C. F. Spang, E . sq., rare collection of Green and Hot House plants. It is unrivalled in the west for "extent, variety and site of choice plants." There are more than 160 varieties of plants and flowers tinned in the catalogue now before us. Tots collection is so well known in this vicinity, a portion of it basing been on exhibition and taken prizes at our Horticultural Fairs, that any extended notice of it might be deemed su perfluous. We design in this meagre notice simply to direct public attention to the fact of sale at the residence above named. Mr. Spang intends, as we are informed, making the tour of Europe. Premiums. 2nd Tiro Harrison County Ohio Agricultural Fiir will be held in Cadit on the 6th ith and sth of October naming. We acknowledge the receip- Lion of a oomplimentiary ticket from the managers.
