Ample space is afforded for a exhibitors'. , We expect to sees rl. e array of agricultural implements and produ ta. We learn that at the Ohio State Fair, the S. rghum or Chinese Sugar Cane attracted great. attention. .A mill for grinding it wan placed upon the ground, the stalk passing through the rollers and the juice carried off in spouts to the boilers where it was reduced to a syrup not surpassed in richness or in flavor by the best oMaple syrup. ---- We trust that Mr. Wartirop or some other person will maihave secured some pine of the sort for exhi bition on our grounds during the present week. This may be made oneof - the best crops that was ever raised In our latitudes. For- fodder it is unsurpassed. If of no use but fOr that alone itis one of the most profitable of productions. When We consider, in addition to that fact, that by We-manufacture of its pith into molasses and probably into Sept, we may be emancipated from our dependence upon the South and Cuba by a liberal culture of. it, it becomes a crop of the first importance. • The Artists' Hall on the grounds is ample and we - trust will be filled. • W. saw but one portion of it taken up', - and that by photographs from 8.- M. Every man who takes there the pro dacts of his skill and, labor will be sure to find his accountin it. We urge upon our manufac turers to improve the chance and show to the thousands who will be present whattheyean do. In the afternoon'the board met and adopted the following rules and regulations for the ex hibition of horses at the Allegheny County Fair for l8f4: • • Horsekmtered for prens;ums will be called to the ring in regular order as marked down in the premium list by .the Marshals. No person will.be allowed to ride or drive their animals at ajkster gait than a trot, rack or pace, under penalty of being expelled from the ring. Then will be a grand cavalcade every morn ing at 9 o'clock, when all - the horses on exhibi tion *lll be brought. out to join the procession, which wal be headed by Young's band, the whole under the direction of tho Chief Marshal Tbejudges will be expected to be ready to com mence the discharge of their duty at 10 o'clock A. M. on Wednesday, and continue (uljonrning one hour for dinner) until 4 p:clook P. M. of Thursday, and for the same hours as Wedneed4 each day of the Fair. From 4i o'clock P. 'M. till 51 on each day the ring will be open for ladies who may wish to practice on hone back, the above rules not to be violated: all to he under the direction of the Marshal and police detailed to preserve order. Persons visiting the grounds in carriages will not obstruct the passage by stopping their vehi cles in the way, hut move forward and to the right so that all may have an equal privilege of seeing. Judges, exhibitors, visitors and all interested will please observe the foregoing . rules, particu larly in calling the horses into the ring so that all may understand bow and when they will be called. In the absence of J. McK. Snodgrass. Spper intendant Class No. I, Capt. John Young. jr., will act in his stead. The Chief Manhel is Moses Chess, tsq sistant . Marshals are Messrs. Henry Chalfant, John MoKelrey, Samuel McKelvey and JIM R. Murdoch. • On motion of Capt. John IThung it was voted that each of the Board of Directors be author ized to draw upon the Treasurer fur the sum of 55,00 . to pay for his • board in the town during the week of the Fair. It was thought that a .dollar per day was the least for which board could, be procurek but they fixed the sum final iffis above. This five dollars is the only corn peneation which the Beard receives for their services duringlhe year. Heretofore they have received nothing. They- are worthy laborers, and considering that they meet once et ail. mouth in the year, and transact a large amount of bus iness In corresponding with other societies and taking care of the interests of their own, it is surely much labor and small pay. The Railways have authorized their agents to Wm accomodation tickets for visitors today. • Of course they are welcome to-day but the Fair really opens and the display is arranged to com mence on to-morrow. We hope and trust that Firmest:in - with her myriad products of skill will show herself 'worthy her exalted position as a manufacturing mart- by filling the convenient Amite and grounds with all articles of use and bkuty. Buell a course will inure to indi vidual advantage and the honor of the county generally. Srannin.—A quarrel occurred on Sunday evening, at Patterson's livery stable, on Dia mond alley, between Garret Lynch, a hastier at that stable, and a man named Philip Young, during which Young, it is alleged, stabbed Lynch on both sides of the neck with a knife. The difficulty resulted from the neglect of Young in returning a horse _which be had hired at the time promised. The wounds are not very se rial's-And the injured party provoked the assault, it would seem, in a great memento. Young was held to bail In $l,OOO for a further , hearing on Thursdny to answer a charge of assault and bat tery with intent to kill.
