the potato rot is prevailing to an alarming de
gree in some parts of this county. A farmer

very destructive there, arid that the fall pota
toes wilt be almost entirely' ruined by it as a
crop. 'Now on then a rumor reaches us 1040 to

but we trust the scourge may not prove general
throughout the country. From New England,
Nova Scotia and Upper Minnesota and Wivcon

him. The markets in both cities lately appear
to bet well stocked with petty thieves, as sent-al
cases of pocket-picking have occurred -within
a few days. Person should keep a close watch
