Ileture closing this address the committee de

We desire it to be understood that the people
of Kansas do nut charge the olitrages to which
they have been subjected upon the people:of
Nlissouri ns II body. On the contrary they knim
that the messes of that people have not joined
! iu these outrages, but linVe remained at home
and denounced the invadeis. Towards them we
entertain no other feelings, thou those of respect
and kindness. This has been abundantly Mude
Manifest by our notions. , Many a town is slow
stnnding and thrtring in Missenert-monumente of
our consideration for them, and esteem of their Con
duct. Respect for this class of people of Mine
sottri hire induced us sedulously to refrain from
fetaliatory incastt , en. Those who have joined
! in the forhy agninet us, under the sincere ina
preesion that Massachusetts and other free,
states were importing votes into Kansas, have
been grimly deceived. That we arc friendly
towards the people of Mtmetichusettsiind other
free states is not surprising. By I hbir munifi
eence wo were furnished arms 'to defend - our
homes frouLplunder end destruction. When the
iiiimeoori river and markets, upon our border
were closed against us, the poor of Knnans were
clothed nail l'etl by their liber.lity. Notwith
et finding this, however, we would resist then, in
any attempt to despoil us of our franchise, as
we would resist the people of Missouri. But
we deny that, the people of Massachusetts, or of
nay other free state, ever attempted any such
thing. It is, doubtless, true Shot immediately
Mier the election of March, 1555, many of the
peimefully diepipersi citizens of Kansas left the
territery, aid good reason they hail for so doing.
Kansas was invaded by hostile forges organised
for war, and her peel le ruthlessly trampled into
' the duet. Was not this a sufficient reason? We
implore you not to uttesupt to again violate our
rights. We are Melt as yott are, mad our corn
nom manhood requires flint we should resist you
if you du. We are organized for defence. We
have the pledge of Gov. Walker that he will use
the troops of the United States in our behalf.

EXPENSE or, TRAVEL IN EVROCE.—Rev. T. L.
Cuyier writes that travelers' expellees are mach
greater in England, and less on the Continent,
then in our own country. Three dollars a day
are the least for which a stranger can live com
fortably at a hotel in London. By -irailwags,
fares are double and triple In Paris,: on the
contrary, one may sojourn in varjous - modes, at
an expense of from one to three dollars—tha
latter being the, cost of full board at the IlAel

Five dollars a day is a fair average allowance
