After a debate, Mayor Wood rase to speak, when
Mr. Chamberlain mined the prerioue question, and
insisted upon the motion, when intense excitement
ensued-
Tdr. Chamberlain then withdrew his motion.
Mr. Wood made.a forcible speech.
Mr. Shaw withdrew his resolutions.
Walter Jones offered a resolution, allowing the
various delegates from New York city to select sev
enteen delegates.
Mr. Kelly moved to amend by admitting eight
Cooper and eight Small men, who wore to elect a
seventeenth.
At this juncture there was great confusion,a tiepin
delegates speaking -at one time. The Choir rapped
for order. Mr. Sickles rave to speak. Mr. Morange
interrupted him, claiming that he should be beard
Ont. The wildest confusion reigned, and ono mem
ber called for . the Sergeant-at-arms to quell the dis
turbance. All the delegates rushed to the space in
leant of the chair. For several minutes a general
tight appeared to be inevitable.
Mr. Sickles made another effort tot speak, but was
again put down by the riotous coseffillon of delegates.
A member moved to table rho remlution.
The chairman said-he would put' nu m o tion till
the convention bad quieted.
The motion to table was lost by to vote of 51 yeas
to 40 nays.
Mr. Sickles then delivered a speech.
A motion to give the selection id the (Yonimitleo on

34 yeas to it nays, the Soils voting it, the neuelire.
A motion wa4 then carried fo appoint two mem
bers front each judicial district ao a committee on

The eoulitsion has become worse, and nn adjourn
ment was had till seven o'clock P.M. The Conven
tion then agreed to meet at nine o'clock next morn
ing. to nominate n lickqt.
The committee again re-assembled at< ::311.• The
delegates from Columbia county reported that it was
impossible- to decide open
