THE Pennsylvania Teachers' Association assem
bled in. Chambo.burg on the 12th, and had a very
pleasant and profitable meeting. Mr. Wickersham,
of Lancaster Normal School, lead an interesting re
port upon the claims of Teaching to rank as a pro
-fission (whatelse can it bet) and. Mr. Burrow-% ed
itor. of the School Jeered, a report on the "Effect of
General Intellectual Culture on Manual Labor." Mr.
Hlekek also addressed the meeting. The evening of
the first day was devoted to festivities, and on the
media much miseelLuieous business woe transacted.

Frir WIIELT.—We ham received a beautiful
sample, (which can be seen at this office) of Genesee
White Wheat, from Kentucky, of this year's growth,
a consignment of which his been mecired by klersra.
B.T. Kennedy k Ben., of the read Mill. It is large
and plump, and is altogether the finest specimen of
Wheat we have seen this mason. The Gest receipts
of Wheat from Kentucky were inferior '
and led to a
supposition that such was the general charaeter of
the crop, but this specimen iodinates that the suppo
sition was premature and incorrect.
• Aceinr.yrr.—A bey named Alfred Walker, aged
about fourteen. woo rely severely injured while walk
ing on the railroad track. near En 4 Liberty, yester
day about noon, when the train from the East was
coming in. A ghastly wound was inflicted upon his
bead, but the unfortunate boy. who ought not to have
been there; was not killed. The train stopped, took
the boy Cu board and, brought him to the Pennsylva
nia Hospital. There was a heavy shower of ruin
falling at tea moment of the accident.

izing the embodyment of the militia without
calling Parliament together. He also announced
the intention of considerably increasing the

Lord John Russell's motion for a Committee
of Enquiry as to whether Jews cannot be ad
mitted on affirmation under existing acts, was
agreed to.
Delain, formerly manager of the 'Times,' and
Eugene Sue, are dead. - -
An Italian paper has published Mazsini's de
fence, but it was suppressed. lie declares that
ho will not stop until his object isaccomplished.
' The French Ambassador at Turkey has sus
pended relations because the Moldavian elec
ions were not set aside.
