gold leaf and gold toll manefactury of J Dun
levy, Ito. 122 Third street, near Smithaeld, was
robbed of II conaiderable
entered by burglars and
quantity of gold in promise -of preparation for
'leaf go d t o w and also of some hundred dollars
in Toney. The ahop, in the rear of the main
building, was entered through's window. The
thief gained mess to the yard through an alley
leading from Third street. There were no abut
ters upon the shop windows, and the ensiles
were secured inaidely mellllB of nails inserted
looeely in the window frames. A broken:pain of
glass was partly removed, and the nailt above
- the sash were drawn out, when the window was
hoisted, and free epees obtained.
- The , key of the safe wan found, and used to
advantage. About $BOO worth of clippings or
trimmings, were taken from the sato. The little
tin-serap boxes, used at the beating blocks, were
rifled of their , contents, not amounting to much
in value, however. A tool, or mould, containing
$52 worth. of gold In lest, was taken from a
small box in which hero tools are usually de.
posited. There were other maulda box

They were left, as la supposed, for the reason
, that the leaf was co fine as not to be easily con
verted into a mass. The mould taken contained
leaf of a much thicker quality. •
After having rifled the shop,tbe.barglars pro
ceeded to the sleeping apartment of Mr. Dante-,
front room on the second story, and took
from his pantaloons pocket eighty dollars in
money. lie bad in the oppaite pocket a book
containing some small change, which was left.—
Mr.'Joel Molder, druggist, occupies the same
room with Mr, D., and lost all his change,
amounting to twenty-five or thirty-dollars. Their
room door had been lett unlocked that evening,
being the firsttime for many weeks. They knew
nothing of the robbery until the 118U91 time for
rising. 'Their eyes had a strange appearance
upon waking, and they complained of soreness,
or a feeling at fatigue. There can bo but little
doubt that the thieves administered chloroform.
Suspicion rests upon a couple of individuall,'one

Weal feat of Mr. John Brougham and company,
performing in New-York and this city on the
same evening, was accomplished last evening.
The distsnoe was run in two hours and nix
minutes, the company arriving here at 20 min.
