It has been a‘longAharrassing and turbulent campaign; and the redkless con daot of our enemies has been so disgraceful to • human nature and the name of Republicanism, that the end of the period for witnessing their degradation is looked rorward to with.pleasure. Bat, In the few days that are left, it behooves you not to be idle. There is no time novr4o etop and argue with the obstinate or bandy word with the determined enemies of Liberty. Oar task is to rally onr friends in solid phalanx and trust to the invincible effongth of their ar ray. In every election district there are men upon our side who did 'neeirote before. These must ha got out on Tuesday next. A few may feel discouraged; thesemust be seen and brought out. Others may have voted wrong at the last election through misapprehension and deceit; and these must be Eat right. It is your duty to ' stir up the sluggish, encourage the despondent, strengthen the weak and enlighten those who may have been led astray. A fall vote Is a certain victory, and thie_wo can have if we will. ; • - Bain= Ido not lay it Is none of your boil- nese. It 13 as much yours as that of any man. Do you live in a borough? Take precisely the same course. Do you lire in the country ? Jump on your horse and visit everyman in the township, if need be. See that then are vigilant committees appointed in each school diablet, who will give themselves no rest until every voter is out Provide wag ons and carriages for the sick, the old, and the =au=ra; and have a poll list made oat, end a man provided to check off the names as voted, so that you may know early in the afternoon who you will have to seed for. In each a contest as thia, s whateoever your hands find to do, that do; and do it with all your might. The losoloco majority en Canal Commissioner was only 2,753, while on Congressmen It was only 1800—a trifling majority, which we can easily overcome. There ia every thing there foto, to urge 09 019—,9 holy came, a bright pros peat of names, and the hope of east:thing vie '. tory from the totalling months of our enemies. Their premature and insolent yells of triumph ought to prove one of the strongest Incentives. When the wicked bear rule, the people will have abundant tepee to mourn. Whether ire are to prove victorious of not, a high sense of duty calls upon us to be active, vigilant and energetic. We shall then have - nothing to reproach ourselves with; if we succeed, oar trL uraph will bs all the greater; if we fail, the whole burden of the wrong will fail upon other shoulders. ' Tar official vote of the State shows the total vote to be 422,998. The highest vote ever polled before was fol. President in 1852, when the to. tal reached 887,884. Between this and our pre heat total there is a difference of 85,114. Snob a vote as the . Nearly the half of this latter Increase is In Philadelphia; and of the total increase in the Stet!, Philadelphia shows more they one. third.
