ono hundred Met, employed at the Arsenal, near
this oily have been dliottaited, on the ground of
: Want of money to ittY them their pages. This
`is mere subterfuge—A ehaltop . „electioneering
trick. The government ,coold . knee had this
money long ago, if \it had . besn.willing to take it
and give up the tyrannical and - illegal laws of.
Bermes, but for the purpose of carrying out the
infamous objects of crushing out liberty in
Kansas, it is minis% to forego the Army Appro•

Goa may arise. The whole fault of the failure
. of the Army-bill rests with the - administration
party, and candid, history will so reoord It.
But there was no necessity for the discharge
of these men. The "government need have no
trouble =eta raising money when its securities
are at a heavy. premium In rho market. Money
could be raised to send troops to anbatie Kansas,
last week, and the each paid down for their trans
portation, and money could be raised to pay the
mechanics at the arsenal if there was any diepo•
hition to do so. - If the Oeveruncesatitonld not
liaise the money , for their wagers for three or
four Menthe, until Congress meets. again, the
men could have waited; there are plenty of capi
talists who would advance them money to live
on, on finch good security. 'lt cannot be plead
ed that the government had no authority to
.go
on without an appropriatian, because they .knew
that Congress was ready to appropriate this mo
ney, that there was no dispute =td it, that it
had gone through both Houses, and only fell on
account of the proviso interdicting the ten of
the Army to enforce illegal laws.
The object is to alarm the country, and fright
en the Hotiae into yielding to the demands of
the Adminletration. It will fail in its object.
We sympathize with the men who have been
thus thrown oat of employment by in unjust and
tyrannical government, but wo venture to coy
there is not an intelligent man among them but

We advise the contemptible dough-faces among
us, CI? ere constantly prating about disunion,
to read the following manly remarks •mkdo by a
Southern llepreeentative in Congress, the lion.

of August. Let them read thin , and hide their
beads iri shame:
"There are men who go about the country do

even a eubjeot of dismission. It never will be
done while roe have their reason. It never will

party power, !shall again and again ersepereee,
beyond the reach of Season, the Northern and
Southern minds, as my Southern friends have
now exasperated the Northern mind. It would
bq an ant of suicide, and sane men do not com
mit suicide. The act itself is insanity.. it will
be done, if ever, in a tempest of fury sad mad
ness which cannot atop to reason.
