County Nomination'.
Ms. EDITOll,—la a few days the voters of this
county who are opposed to the present OdinWe
tendon, on the Cincinnati platform, and the eaten-
Ulan of ebony, will have presented to them, for
their approval, a county ticket.
My object he this communination is to im
press the minds of the delegates,
the great im
portance of matting in to the Convention un
pledged, and uncommitted, for any men, par
ticularly, to come free and independent of all
pledged for the Important emcee of Congress
and the State Legislature.
It mut be obvious to every true lover of the
great csuso of liberty, that this is not the time
for the Intrigue and bargaining generall re
eerie to, to promote the Interest of th is, or
that man.
Let them, on whom will devolve the responsi
bility of fanning a ticket, resolve to look beyond
mere persobal preference. Let them be govern
ed by what the public good and welfare of our
econtry demand. They should act with but
one purpose and that ehould be the foimation
of a ticket, made up of men eminently qualified
for the respective 'offices, reliable on all the
momentous tunes now before the people. The
fret great battle between Freedom and Slavery
le DOW to be fought, and If those to whom Is
confided the tract of alleging the ticket, will do
their duty, fearleuly sod honestly, all will be
well. In conclusion, Mr. Editor, let nie urge
upon yeti to ad
take vantage of the sheet time
'intervening between title and the Conventioo, to
'moron open the minds of thou who, may be
delegates not to pledge themselves te vote for
any candidate, until they see all the WOOS that
will be before the Convention. 0. K.

Tan GRIAXIIIIOXT MXICTIIO.—The nit
gatherhleyesterday at Fremont, was worthy of
oar great cause. From twenty•Ove to thirty
thousand people usembled. They came to
gather by Railroad, on Steamboats, in wagons,
on horseback, and on foot, with bands of meal%
under the waving of Sags, and greeted by the
discharge of cannon. They came animated by
that impulse of enthusiasm, end patriotism, that
makes popular movements sublime. It was
spontaneous. It was apparent that the People
came together eagerly and anxiously to greet .
and counsel with each other.
Within the grounds appropriated to the meet •
hog, there were four stands—three for Ettgliah
and one for German speakers. At one stand,
Hon. Caleb B. Smith and Hon W. li. Gibson ad
dreaded the crowd. At the second stand, Lt.-
Gov. Ford, Prof. Peek and 0. E. Kellogg spoke.
At the third stand, Mr. Baser, Secretary of
State, and Hon. D. It. Tilden addressed the
people. At the German stand, Mr. Rotes, of
Sandusky, and Meters. Vortstede. Henneok
Bodolph of oar city, addressed their fellow-coun

White these crowds were listening to speakers
within the grounds, the streets of the town were

Hon. C. IL Smith made Ms speech of the day.
It was eloquent, earnest, lucid and commanding.
He arrested for nearly two hours, the wraps at

. - It is somewhat a slngular-colooLience that the
Seat two great popular denionetriaiOnil in Ohio
In favor of Fremont and Dayton, should have
gathered at cities called Dayton and Fremont.
We trust, it Is .-ominous of a glorious triumph at
the close of a contest eo auspicloally begun.
Fremont himself would have been proud of
this eignificsnt and glowing demonstrotioo, in
a city,'whase people, years ago, prompted by the
admiration:which his deeds had already awa
kened, gave their corporation tA l norne. Proud
of the sagacity that teemed to anticipate his
future distinction, and still more proud of the
association now—the people of Fremont, almost,
to a men, give him a hearty support—Toledo.
