Tan Berm Days or ran Connotnruirti.— Ho 2 invite Special attention to an extract from tho'lttntal of the House of Representatives of Pennsilvinia, of December. 1819, on our Hut pep to-day. Bradford, The Philadelphia Sun, an American paper, re marks: What effecttbese nominations will have on the action of the Republican Convention, meeting here to-day, 'remains to be eeen. Legit evening the current was strong, almoit overwhelming for Fremont, and we have little conQdenoe that the action at New. York will change that current here to-day. It may, molt likely will, hue the effect of securing Mr. Banks the Republican nomination for Vice Prealdent, L D. Deftest, Ham. A. ItiMasy. HUB a LASCrAZILII Wrap.—After 'peaking kindly of Mr. Buchanan as .6 neighbor and a gentleman, the independent Lancaster proceeds: "We might go further and express oar belief that if Mr. Buchanan could be separated from party obligations--cut Imes from the influence and exactions they demand—could be allowed to act independent of them, and in conformity withlds own judgment and come of right and wrong, we could have no objections to Ida eleva tion to the Presidency. But we know thi base subserviency that is demanded of those high in power, by the odious and unscrapuictus plotters who pull the cards and wires al the party. We know the imperious enrolee of position with which they oblige the incumbent of the White Bouseto yield obedience to their piens. We know the fierce demands of the unthinking, the unreflecting, the hungry, the impotent, the howling democracy, that has made greater minds end more resolute spirits than Mr. Buchanan's succumb to Its behests; and we can have no doubt that he would yield as blind obedience, as devoted servility to it as Pierce or Douglas, or any other man who aspires to become the bead and creature of the petty. This presumption is strengthened by the declaration made to the Keystone Club, that he was "no longer simply James Buchanan," but the candidate and stand ard bearer of a party whose principles alone he was to represent and carry out. If Mr. Buchan- an could have been placed before people of this county and State as a candidate above the con trol of party dictation, he would have been strop!: as it is, the presumption that be ie a strong man la a delusion, as his friends will find when the votes are polled. If the oppossitiont the measures of the Pierce administration is soot contorted firmly and folly, Mr. Buchanan can get neither Lancaster county, Penntrylvaniss, nor the Presidency. If there is not, the force of the opposition will be frittered away and wasted only In confounding itself. The ratification meeting on Elattrisday proved conclusively to any observer that the people of this county are not for Mr..Ltachanan—that there Is no enthuslasun for him even amongst the rank and file of the "democracy"—and that his nomination has made no mob breach Into the ranks of the old Whig party of the county as to diminish in the least its power of number's, when they are brought to act together."
