ANTSILIWON OCSBIOII,
The Board of Home Mildew reported through
Dr. Hedgers. It appears that during the year
$6614 were appropriated; $6834 expended; and
$6466 contributed. There is a small balance in
the Treasury. The Committee recommend that
the part of the Boberteon estato, $BOOO, which
had been devoted to the Board, be safely fund
ed. The amount apportioned for the coming
year reaches $7,611,50. The number of mis
sionaries in the employment of the Board is
46. Their appointments for the year were an
nounced. Five of the missionaries were en
tirely unacceptable, and no Presbytery would
receive, them.
Various resolutions were offered to meet -the
difficulty, but they were laid on the table.
The report was adopted.
Mr. Church, from the Special Committee, re
ported as follows :
" Whereas, it is the duty of the Church of
Christ, in her oonstituted capacity, as the pillar
and ground of the truth, to lift up her testi
mony against all ungodliness and unrighteous.
nese of men, both in high and low places, and
whereas, the alarming events which are now
taking place in our land are Indicative of the
sad. degeneraoj of the times in whioh we live;
end also that the winked and cruel system of
Slavery Is a fruitful eouree of evil—the parent
of civil fends and intestine ware, and which
fosters a dominant spirit that violates law,
order, and decency; and even ruthlessly dese
crate; Halls of Legislation dedicated to Freedom;
and whereas, the Associate Presbyterian Church
has heretofore borne -her testimony against
this monster evil, so - now she deems , it neces
sary to raise her voice in behalf of truth, and
of civil and religious liberty; therefore,
"Resolved, That Slavery is a sin against 1
God arid man—an impious invasion of the
Divine prerogatives, and man's eivil and religi
ose rights.
" 2d. That Synod condemns the Fugitive Slave
Law as a cruel and direct violation of the Di
vine Law, and solemnly protests against the re
peal of the Missouri Compromise es a deliberate
violation of a solemn compact, and a end evi
dence that our government favors slavery mire
than freedom.
"&L That the late gross end brutal attack
made by a member of the House of B.epresenta
tires from South Carolina, on a member of the
Senate, is a daring outrage on the ematitutiotril
rights of freemen, and the sacred rights of pri
vate judgment, and liberty of expreesica.
" 4th. That while as ministers of the Gospel
of Peace, Totalled to promote the peace and hap
piness of our !diem men) we have no desire to
interfere with things of a purely political char
acter, yet we cannot but deplore the present
griming Mate of things aleo in Kamm, and re
gard them se resulting from the bad polioy of the
govertunent , towarde the settlers in that Terri-
" 6th. That we regard the aspects of the
times as calling upon as for deep humiliation
and prayer to God, that he may avert those fear
ful judgments which seem to threaten the peace,
liberty and happiness of our highly famed and
beloved couotry."
The resolutions were unsaimonsly adopted.—
The following resolution was also carried :
Resolved—That the clerk of Synod be direct•
ed to forward a copy of this report to the Presi
dent and *soh Home of Congress.

and to become a curse to the country.
Resolved, That WI members of Court of j

the canoe of humanity and religion, who have
set us an example of faithfulness and dilligenoe,
which we would desire to imitate, in the same
spirit of love and self-denial.
Resolved, That we feel grateful to she mana
