Arrival of the George Law
Terrible Accident on the Panama Hot!road
The ()serge Law is off Bandy Hook with eight
hundred passengers and $1,700,000 treacure.

Railroad to the train tarrying the George Law%
outward passengers. The whole train ran off
the track and made a complete wreak. Many
were killed and wounded; the correct number
had not been ascertained when the ateamer lett

Law arrived at her dock at 11 o'clock. She
sailed from Aspinwall on Miy 7jh. The Mesm
er Sonora which left San Francisco April 21st,
had upwards of two millsons of treasure on board

thousand for Now York. The steamer Golden
Gate with passengers and mails to the 20th_of
March, arrived at Boa Franpisoo, April 13th.—
The steamer John ',Stevens, upward bound,
left Acapulco on April Clad. She passed,
May. let, a Brenner supposed to he the America
from Panama to San Francisco.
No signs of farther disturbance at Panama.

The Isthmus papers ore filled with official
doonmenteponcerning the Panama riot, but no
now facts bf importance wore elicited, and no
additional names of killed or wounded given.
The citizens of Panama have formed a guard
for the protection of property, and the authori •
tics had placed a force at the disposal of the
Railroad Company; eo that no further violence
was anticipated,
Tho correspondenee between the Governor of
Panama and Commander Bailey was published
in fall. The closing note of tho latter was ex
ceedingly. sharp. He tells the Governor that
his answers are not satisfactory, and are no ae•
Butane° of safety to transit passengers for the
future, and that until ho hears from his own
Government in the 'matter, he will take all
means In his power to prevent further danger.
CALIPOREI/I.—There had been heavy rains
throughout the Slate during the past fortnight.
Mining operations are taking a new start.—
Grain and crops promise abundant harvest. The
government signed the bill consolidating the oily
and county of San Francisco. The Democrats
carried the municipal ticket. At Sacramento
the Republicans attempted to hold a mass meet
ing at the same place but were driven from the
ground by violence.
A large fire occurred at Placerville on the 16th.

The accident on the Panama Railroad occur
red en Obsco Bridge, fifteen miles from Panama.
The train consisted of nine cars and nine hun
dred passengers, chiefly steerage. Owing to the
accident, passage through the bridge could not be
effected, and the passengers were sent back to
Aspinwall. Over fifty wounded bad arrived, two
of whom died after antral. Next morning
there was a further arrival of wounded and
uninjured. At last advicee. the wreck had not
been wholly cleared, but thirty bodies had been
taken out. Very few ladies or children were In
jured. Among the wounded and killed were a
number of brakemen. The only name given is
that of Mr. Dalhouse, clerk at Aspinwall, who
was killed.
The demand from the Interior for goods had
been very light during the fortnight and the
great bulk of the receipts had been pladod in
store. No improvement bad Mimi piano in any
articles excepting Rioe and new Bogart. Flour
had fallen $2,60. Other leading articles were
weaker. Money Was streagent. Demotic flour
$11; Halal $14,60. Ideas Fork $27. Hyannis
