The Sysasz.—The ice below the St. Clair
sheet bridge : gave way yesterday morning and
proceeded down the river. That above broke
partially; a steamboat was employed in break
log it, which sista easily done, the warm weath
er hiving rotted it very much.
It is not known whether the river is clear or
not, though iris rumored theie is a gorge some
ten miles down. We saw diiipatehes yesterday
from Rochester and Steubenville,stating, that
the 'ice had broken at thine paces, and was
paselog down the river.
'A, dispatch was received from Brownsville, at
the 'National office, yesterday, stating that the
ice bad broken at that point.
At the time we are writing the impression is
that thete_will be a general ',rah np about mid
night.
Since writing the above we learn that the
Ohio is entirely clear of Ice. I Several boats: will
leave to-day.
