We ar e pained to reoord S a riot and homicide,
which toot, plane , et Larimeee Station, on the
Pennayirania HOad, in North Huntingdon town
ship, Wectmorelond county, on Saturday night
last. We are tumbled to give full particulars of ,
the affair.
It - appears that a cfifficalty occurred about
eight orelock on Saturday evening between a
young man named Armel, and • man named
Elijah Owens, in which •Artnelwas worsted and
badly beaten. the figVt.oceurred at the. atom;
of Air. Guysel, at Larimees Station, and caused
,a good deal of disorder aid tumult. Armel is
the son of Me. Daniel Armel; a wagon-Maker,
who lives near the shales.: Owens was a painter
-and wan in company with' half a dozen others
who were traoklayeroou the Peinsylranis Rail
road. We did not learn the origin of the die-
nutty, but it seemed likely to grow into' et
general row whew the constable ,of the town
ship, Mr . - David McKelvy, &pothered on the
ground, commanded the peace and dispersed the
crowd. Abent half put ten, after the constable
had l e ft, the crowd again collected and Owens
and his 'companion' proceeded to Armee house,
about two -hundrecdpuls from - the Station, and
_ waked the family up. One of them helloed to
Armel that ho Panted to see him. Armel lifted
the window and asked their business there. They
replied IMO,' Mr. Mclntire, the' keeper of- the
tavern at the station wished to see him. He
said tie would call upon him in the morning;
that It was too late an hour then for him to go
out. He let the window down and as he' was
turning away the crowd let Ay a volley of stones
at• the house, breaking the- windows and the
weather-boarding. Anitl threatened io sheet
if they did not leave 'instantly. Unmindful of
ids thrtht, they !swore that he might “shoot
and be d•••—d, ' that they were not to be fright
ened by hia shooting. They, however, retired,
and for a While, nothing was done;
Between 'twelve and one o'clock on Sunday
morning, the crowd returned to the house and
made another assault on it with stones and other
missiles, during which other windows were
numbed and a panel of-the front door was bro
ken in. TIM house is a double one, and the
persons' in:the - pater part becoming alarmed at
this second attack, onset theinmates, a femala,
raised the window, and cried murder. Owens,
the deceased, approached hei and said she had
no cause for alarm as they did not intend to dis•
turb her houee ' l'hut they were, going to mob
the Armel family if they - did not let them in.
The attaniCon the',Armels' house was in the
mean time goingiOn. Owens rejoined hisparty.
Mr. Armel then took his rifle and discharged
It through a paint of glass at the crowd, but the
ball did not take 'effect. Tboee outside did not
teem to be intiniidated 'by this, hut continued
atoning the Louie and declaring with repeated
oaths that they were not afraid, of him. Mr.
Armel then discharged a revolter at them, but
this also was , . without effect. After this shot,
the mowed cited stoning the house but con.‘

reloaded his cilia and a third time abet at the
