MiXICIO.—It seems that our National Administration has been tampering with Santa Anna, the late Dictator of Mexico, for another doe of Mexican territory to "annex" to our Union, and thus further extend the area of slavery and add fresh fuel to sectional ex citement; Tile Washington correspondents of do New York Herald and Courier and Enrinr give the particulars of a treaty which Santa Anna was about catering into with Preddent Pierce, when the Mexican Dictator was oom palled to flee his country. Although the project has failed for the present, it is more than likely that our Government can find some other Mex ican traitor who will be willing to sell his coun try for a good round MID on which he can sport at ease the rent of Ms life. And as Preddlint Pierce is Bold body and soul to the Slave Power, it is not likely he will owe his efforts to gain more slave - territory. The correspondents re ferred to, say, that among the papers loft behind in Mexico, by Santa Anna, after his flight from the capital, was the preiject of a treaty which General Gadsden; the American Envoy, had been discussing with the Dictator, the details being as follow! : It proposed to dispense with the running and marking of the present boundary line between the United States and Mexico, by the minion to the former of all the territory north of the twenty-ninth parallel of latitude, and also the peninsula of Lower California, for a price which is not known. This negotiation was carried en by Santa Anna without the knowledge of his ministry; and it is also said that General Gadsden had acted without the authority or knowledge of our own Government. The treaty was concluded, but remained secret, depending upon the success of Santa Anna in firmly establishing his power. After his flight the document is said to have fallen into the bands of-General Carters and his aswieteo, wheat once notified General Gadsden that the treaty could not receive• their approval Tho writer in the Courier conjectures that the pur chase money agreed upon must hasre reached forty millions of dollars.
