NARROW Escars.—As the down train for New
Brighton was passing the narrows last evening,
• tretrwas blown across the track by the storm,
and was observed by an Irish woman who resi
ded in a shantee near by. She immediately
raised a piece.of red flannel on a pole and was
just in time to notify the engineer of the train,
who checked up in time to prevent an accident.
The locomotive struck the tree and carried it
three or four rods and turned it off the track.
The.pasaengers in the cars immediately *tied a

danger to the train and thus preventing a serous
