On BattirdaY, at noon, he was brought before
the Mayor for examination. The small vial wee

it from Mr. Bryan, and had used it for a head

other tat being shown him, he denied having
ever seen _ it -before, and said le had never par
chased any other thanthe small vial.
Mr. Bryan was then put upon oath and teetiled

ofohloroform, and some articles of medicine for
a sore hand. He said he wanted the chloroform
for a headache- Some days after this, he again
visited the store and talked about purchasing some
whiskey. He went to the beck post of the stole
and Wm: Bryan gave him a sample of the liquor.:

fleet arrived off. the port they found the town
deserted and the fortifications dismantled.
The Russian ships Marra and Dwina bad
tailed some time previously for Amour river, ta
king with them all the guns, stores, he, of the
place. The allied fleet haring rased the town,
sailed for Bitka, from which port they proceed
to San Francisco to redit. The visit of the al
lied fleet to Bias was peaceful, • compact ex
isting between the Russians axed the British
government exempting the place from molesta
