InIIOAM the storm was not so severe
as on.th is side. ..The only damage done, as far

Keeling & Co., whei; there was a, land elide and
the water carried a vast quantity of Black down

The Allegheny ricer, which is remarkable for
"recooperatiee aluiost in .the twinkling of an
eye, had, risen four feet by ten o'clock, A. id.,
on Handiy. All the way up the river as far as .
Deer'Creek, we have heard of rafts having part
ed their ;sables and gone off on solitary voyages
down the river. At: the upper end of Herr's
island, between the island and the there there is
a gorgi'of raftaand no- doubt many • were eaved
by lodging there. As, many as sLzty rafts were
carried beyoed the bridges and a dozen were

manned at the' time • they struck, and ; all on
board narrowly escaped with their lives.
Two boats loaded with-pigmetal, sunk in the
'Aver 'at the upper end orthe Fifth Ward.
The storm also did a rest deal of damage at
Pine Oreek,'whlob was much higher than at guy
time before for four years. The torrent came
rushing demi, as if a dam had broken away,
and flooded all the gardens and fields along its
banks. The garden of John Sowjer, Which was
a fine one was much injured and the waters
when refiring left a sediment of clay which
will prevent the vegetables from springing up
*Saba.
A ten aore field: of, ' , hist belonging to Mr.

badly by the rain, and such is the

Six bridges spanning Pine Creek were carried

filled with write; 'which will hare to be taken
