FRIDAY DIORNING, MAY 11. 1855.
KNOW NOTIIIIIO HAll.llO3Y.—New Hampshire,
and Massachusetts Know Nothings are thorough
ly abolitionited. New Jersey elected pro-slavery
Delegates, and repudiated the Anti-Slavery min
eiPles of their New England brethren. The 1111,
Dols brethren, are mum, pane by the slavery gums-

even to sit in Council, or negotiate with
any who hold to the doctrine no more Slave
States or Slave Territory." The Know Nothing
Gevernor of . Connectiout claims his election to an
"emphatic cofidemostion of the principles of the ,

the centrifugal force which drives 'Abe Northern

the debate the Clerk said he had received notice
from a large portion of the members, wisbieg to
be dismissed from the Order, which wee voted.—
The Cotmoil voted to give up their charter on the
Bth of May, when the Ceneral Cduneil of the
State of Conneoticut meets at Norwich City.—

Conncile in that State.
The South Casettes Nullifiers on the contrary,

honorable exceptions, la generally thrown into
the scale of Abolition."
So . we go. Hotrutterly lathe It I to talk of ►

lirered a Lecture on Slavery, in New York, on
last Tuesday evening. From a report in the
Deibune, we gather that gentleman's latest ex

remarks, he said:

New Oanxaas, April 80.—At a meeting of the
Cuban Junta, held yesterday ISuudayl r oeneral
John A. Quitman handed in his resignation as
Commander-in-Chief of the Expedition which has
been so long organized against Cuba. All of the
American officers who held COlllOlllllllOll3 is this
Quitman army hero also resigned, and the cause
of Cuba is now in the hands of the Junta. Thus
ends the Quitman Expedition, an enterprise in
which many of the leading men of the South
'have been engaged and had every reason to be
lieve would prove succerieful. The •officers who
Were engaged to take part in this eipedition
were men of experience, who have held commis
sions in the United States army and hr.ve seen
Berrien and distinguished themselves in the war
.with Mexico. Many of these officers have not
'Oleic superior in the United States. I have a
list of their names and the, positions which they
were to have held; bat as the enterprise has
failed the publication of the same is of no inter
eat.
At the time of the organization of the expedi
tion the leaders had every assurance.from Pres
ident Franklin Pierce that he would not Inter
fere with the enterprise. Previous to his elec
tion he was a warm friend of the Cuban cause,
and did not hesitate to express himself in its fa
vor on every occasion. Thottiands of Southern
Whigs voted for him on that account. The Ad
ministration, however, have thrown every obsts
cle in the way of the departure of Quitman; and
but for the determined course pursued by the
President and the Cabinet to defeat the enter
prise, Gen. Quitman and an army of 4,000 men
would now be on the ,Island of Cuba at the bead
Of a successful revolutionary party. This Quit
miin Expedition, has been badly managml, and
has beeen a continual series of blander!.
The excitement In Kansas has already result
ed in bloodshed, and if the report be true in nr ,
NU also. A leader of the Pro-Slavery party
named Clark has been killed at a public meeting
at Leavenworth. A dispute arose as tb-Which
party hid the majority. Mr. Clark claimed it
for the' negro drivers, and Mcßee, one of the
other side, replied that this wee • lie. Here
upon Clark struck Mcßea with a club, stunning
him; but as soon as ho came to himself he drew
d revolver and abet bin assailant dead. This
done he escaped, though shots werefiredet him.
Finally his friends"gavh him up to the 'United
States 'officers at the fort, in whose custody he
remained at our latest advises, though a desire
to take 'him out and lynch him was manifested
by the slavedrieers:
It is also reported that the house of George V.
Park, 'of Parkville, 'Mo. ' whose printing °stab•
lie'hment was, recently thrown into the Missouri
river, has been burned down by his enemies, and
he himself lynched in Kansas. If this be true
it mast have occurred after be had written the
manly and sensible address to the peoide of the,
State; which we copy in another column. He
there protests that ho has done nothing hostigto
slavery for which . its zealots ought to 'rob or kill
him, and that he shall naeleave thiplace at their
dictation. His pluCkla good. 'lf he has not yet
been lynched we may very likely soon hear of
that event, though wo are confident it will - not
