S. Ritchie and Robt. W. lincheffl, Secret:mt.-.
Confusion ensued upon it motion to, go into'
nomination for Governor, nail a long lotion was
had on the rules relative to ea•ting the tote.
Mr. Slinckleford moved that the C.invention do
not make any nomination for Governor or Lieut.
GoVerner unless tlk.L..cantlidates receive , n vote
sufficient to repre7 , :eht n majority of the whole
Democratic vote of the State.
Mr. Garnett offered a substitute, that it shall
require a majority of the votes cast to nrouttrote
candidates for Governor, Lieut. Governor and
Attorney General, which was adopted.
This is considered a triumph for the Wise party,
which is the strongest in the Convention. Ex
citing times are expected, and an effort will
probably be made to further amend by adopting
the two-thirds rule.
The Democratic vote represented in Col - cation
ie 64400: the whole Democratic vote of the State
it about 70.000.
