teen appointed to award premiums at the Coon
ty Fair. We asked from the officers of the Se.-
'..dety a: simple list of the awards, far:publication,
, and this we were ready and willing to publish;
but we were told that .we must publish the re
ports as now given, or nothing. We knowof no
right which the officers of the Agricultural So.•
~iety have to impose this alternative upon us, oc
', copying our columns to the exclusion of every

our readers, who wish to see the awards, we put
our protest on record against it-

fears do that they will not be as fully victori
ous as we desire. *-•

Anti-Nebraska men present an almost unbroken
front is nilthree, and we ezpect to hear of their
brillisitit triumph in each.
These four States et represented in the pres

fair to presume that this election will work
a wondrous change in this cant. Bat few Ne
braska democrats will be cl owl; and there
would not be one if it were not for the distrac

To correct an erroneous impression, entertain
ed ey many persons, that the holder of notes of
the stock looks having them protested thereby
-acquires a priority in the payment, the undersign
ed deems it his duty to state that such is not the
fact. In case of the winding up of. any Bank
under the statute, the notes not protested are
placed on the same footing as those which have
been protested, and a dividend of the assets will
be made pro rata. --
Holders of notes Should also bear in mind that
the amount of the dividend would be essentially
diminished by the edsts and fees of protests, and
expenses of sale of assets,.
The undersigned has also determined, that in
discharging his duty to all the creditors of any
bank which may be forced into liquidation, he
j will not-proceed to offer.any of Hicks - sets of such
' Bank in the :market, until after at least sixty
daysnotice in New York,. London, and Paris, so
as to insure the largest and best price for the
securities, and not then, if„ in his opinion, the
ultimatisinteruts of 411 concerned will be promo
ted by a further extension.
He is, also, authorized to exchange the State
Stocks deposited in his office as collateral by se,

within gunshot of it. It is, the interposition of
an obstacle which will go far to destroy the oth

the stocks are not to be disposed of until the
Auditor can give 'sixty days notice in London
and Paris, an d , not-even then if th e market be
unfavorable, hole-holders can have no reliable
security. 'Brokers, of, coarse, will not feel much
disposed to bay notes which have such an uncer
tain prospect before them, and the consequence

this paper most either submit, or retain it until

of dead capital equal to five or six millions of dol
lars. It may be that this .is a dodge to enable
the owners of the Banks to get their own notes
at fifty or sixty cents on the dollar, and thus not
only save themselves from ioes but make a hand
l some profit, at the expense of the public. The
fact is; ktr. Dunn is owner of two or three of the
Banks, and instead of acting the part of a faith
furofficer, between the prop'e and the Banks, he
